Nestwell Sheets Sizing Guide

How to Measure Your Mattress

Before ordering sheets, you need three measurements. Get these right and your sheets will fit perfectly every time:

1. Width and Length (determines sheet size)

Measure the width across the top of your mattress and the length from head to foot. Match these to the standard sizes below. Most mattresses follow standard dimensions, so if you know your bed size (Queen, King, etc.), you already know the width and length.

2. Height/Depth (determines pocket depth)

This is the measurement most people get wrong. Place a ruler or tape measure at the very bottom edge of your mattress (where it sits on the box spring or platform) and measure straight up to the top of the sleeping surface. Include any mattress topper in this measurement.

Pro Tip: Always Round Up

If your mattress measures 13.5 inches, round up and shop for a 16-inch deep pocket sheet. A sheet that is slightly too deep tucks neatly under the mattress. A sheet that is too shallow will pop off the corners.

King vs. California King: What is the Difference?

This is one of the most common sizing confusions in bedding. Here is the difference:

King and Cal King sheets are NOT interchangeable. A King fitted sheet on a Cal King mattress will be too wide and too short. Always check which size bed you have before ordering.

Split King Explained

A Split King bed uses two Twin XL mattresses side by side, usually on an adjustable base where each side can raise and lower independently. Nestl's Split King sheet set includes:

This setup lets each sleeper adjust their side independently without the fitted sheet bunching in the middle. The shared flat sheet provides a unified look when the bed is made.

Twin XL: The College Dorm Size

Twin XL mattresses are 5 inches longer than standard Twin (80" vs 75"). They are the standard size for college dorms, which is why Nestl Twin XL sheets are popular with parents shopping for back-to-school bedding. At $17 for a complete set, they are a fraction of the price of "college bedding" marketed at specialty stores.

Pillowcase Sizes

Pillowcase Size Dimensions Fits Pillow Included With
Standard 20" x 30" Standard and Queen pillows Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen sets
King 20" x 40" King pillows King, Cal King, Split King sets

Nestl pillowcases use an envelope closure (the fabric folds over the end of the pillow) instead of a zipper. This keeps the pillow from sliding out and is more comfortable -- no zipper to scratch your face.

Flat Sheet Tucking Guide

Nestl flat sheets are generously sized so you can tuck them in properly. Here is how much overhang you get on each side:

If you prefer extra tucking room (especially if you have a tall mattress), consider going up one size on the flat sheet. A King flat sheet on a Queen bed gives luxurious overhang.
